A 19th Century two-plate electrostatic friction machine,
unsigned, possibly by Max Kohl, the two glass plates mounted on vulcanite axes and raised on twin ebonised columns with glass insulating supports (one a replacement), with friction pads in leather, the winding mechanism with mahogany driving wheel, cut for three pulleys, the geared wheel similarly cut, with lacquered-brass conductor combs, spherical overhead conductor, with adjustable rod conductor for use with leyden jars, raised on a black-enamelled gilt-banded iron stand -- 23¼in. (59cm.) high

These charges are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge. Exceptionally large pictures will be subject to a surcharge.
