A fine 19th-Century German "experiment box",
the Franklin Experimentir-Kasten für Elektricität, with a glass plate electro-static machine and various attachments and accessories including two brass spheres, one with a comb and one with a friction pad, a leyden jar, a pair of bells with clapper, two (later) Geissler tubes, a pair of discharge tongs, a lightening plate, a brass-capped glass tub containing pith balls and two dice, and other items, contained in a paper-covered and lined wooden box -- 16¼in. (41.3cm.) wide, together with colour photocopies of original advertising for this set and others, a black and white photocopy of the original instruction book in German, two colour photocopies presumably of the original applied paper picture for the lid of the box, showing a child experimenting with the "golden shower" feature, and a faxed copy of an original advertisement with list of accessories, in English; and a wooden insulating stool with glass legs

An initial transfer and administration charge of £3.20 (Paintings) or £18.50 (Furniture/Objects) and a storage charge of £1.60 (Paintings) or £ 3.20 (Furniture/Objects) per lot per day will be payable to Cadogan Tate. These charges are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge. Exceptionally large pictures will be subject to a surcharge.
