A 19th-Century carved wooden figure of Atlas supporting a celestial globe,
unsigned, decorated with (worn) gilt paint, the celestial sphere with one hemisphere decorated with various lines, stars, a ladder, scales and Sun and Moon, the Atlas figure wearing a cloth around his waist and with an old hole [?]for mounting to the reverse, standing on a small unmarked sphere and raised on a (later) brass wire and stepped ebonised wooden base -- 10in. (25.4cm.) high
