An early 19th-Century lacquered-brass simple theodolite,
signed on the compass W. & S. JONES Holborn LONDON, the 21½in. (54.6cm.) long telescope with draw-tube focusing and bubble level, the glazed compass with eight points and edge-bar needle, the circumference of the compass with two scales reading 90°-0-90°-0 and 0-360°, with tripod mounting and two screw fine adjustment, contained in a mahogany case -- 22in. (57.2cm.) long
