A 20th-Century polished brass theodolite,
signed on the compass face HILDEBRAND FREIBERG/S.A. No 53438 with a logo bearing the letters M, H and F around a mountain and two stars, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing and screw clamp, held on the side of the enclosed vertical circle, the twin verniers and silvered scale visible through two apertures each with an ivorine shade, raised on a column from the vertical circle with bubble level, glazed compass with edgebar needle and clamp, the silvered scale and twin verniers visible through two apertures each with a (later) brass covering, with a clamp for the circle, on a tripod mounting and adjustable screw feet, the original fitted mahogany base board with plaques for Voor and Klem and stamped 687 -- 13in. (33cm.) high
