A fine late 18th/early 19th-Century lacquered-brass Cuff-type compound monocular microscope,
signed on the eared stage DOLLOND LONDON, the body-tube held on a limb with a screw clamp from the square section column with rack and pinion adjustment and six marked positions for the eared stage, also with swivelling substage plano-concave mirror, raised via a compass joint from the base of the fitted mahogany carrying case, the end section of the case hinged to fold down and allow the microscope to be positioned upright, with a sprung stage attachment, substage cone, stage forceps, three large and seven small ivory sliders, each hand-numbered, frog plate, pierced body tube extension sleeve, ivory canister with slidemaking glasses and retaining rings, a lieberkuhn and six numbered objectives, the case -- 10¾in. (27.3cm.) wide
