A late 18th/early 19th-Century lacquered-brass Culpeper-type microscope,
unsigned, with rack and pinion focusing (turning knob and one retaining screw missing), the body-tube raised on three scroll supports above the circular stage with a hole and a slot for stage accessories, raised on three scroll legs above a circular base with one-sided mirror, with one eyepiece, two numbered objectives, a frogplate, an ivory slider and a black shading disc in the drawer of the pyramid-shaped mahogany carrying case with brass handle (back panel loose) -- 12¾in. (32.4cm.) high
