Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1988
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Tasting notes: still youthful looking; rich, toasty nose; full of fruit and flavour, surprisingly easy to drink for a rather stern vintage. Rich but tannic. Drink now or keep. M.B.

Solid depth of purple-garne colour, impressive right to the rim. The nose shows ripe blackcurrants, with fine quality toasty oak character. The palate is richly structured with good intensity of black fruits, fine grained texture and splendid length. This slow-maturing Mouton should reveal its charms from around 2005. A.H. May 2002
