20th Century, blue script mark M/pesaro, impressed swan mark
In the sixteenth century Urbino style of the Fontana workshop, similar to the service made for Guidobaldo II, the central boss painted with a scene from the life of Caesar, below scroll-moulded cartouches painted with allegorical figures emblematic of the Elements, between moulded female and mythical beast masks, the border painted with grotteschi, reserved with two panels each inscribed VRBINI within a gadrooned rim, the reverse painted with a crest of a bird with a snake in its beak, below a star, within a scroll cartouche (some flaking to rim)
