Circa 1890, blue shield mark, impressed numerals
The cover painted by K. Beckmann with a classical allegorical figure, probably Erato, the naked female figure with a white drape over her left knee, holding a branch, a lyre at her side, seated before a reeded column, signed, within a seeded gilt roundel gilt with pendant scrolls, the compressed box with similar gilt ornament (some rubbing to gilding)
