A GREEK TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF A GODDESS
Archaic Period, Circa 550-530 B.C.
Perhaps Tarentine, her face and body mold-made, other details hand-modelled, with large almond-shaped eyes and a pointed chin, her lips pursed into a smile, her hair scalloped at her forehead and falling in three long braids on to each shoulder, wearing a high polos and a peplos fastened at the shoulders by a large disk-shaped pin, her arms projecting forward, the hands perforated for attachment of now-missing attributes, the body below largely restored
