A GREEK BRONZE OINOCHOE
Circa Late 5th Century B.C.
Perhaps from South Italy or Sicily, the piriform vessel with a trefoil mouth ornamented with beading above tongues, the high-arching handle with beading along its edges, terminating below in volutes above the forepart of a winged Siren standing on a palmette, her wings upraised, wearing a fillet in her hair, the ties falling on to her shoulders
