Possibly Diana, her oval face with idealized features, her lidded almond-shaped eyes under softly-modelled brows, her fleshy lips slightly parted, the filtrum indicated, her chin rounded, wearing a crescentic diadem with a beaded edge in her center-parted wavy hair

Lot Essay

The high diadem worn by this goddess is reminiscent to that of the "Diana from Versailles." See figs. 246-8 in Bieber, Ancient Copies, Contributions to the History of Greek and Roman Art.
