AN APULIAN RED-FIGURED AMPHORA
Attributed to the White Saccos Painter, Circa 320-310 B.C.
The obverse with a woman in added white seated on a rock within a naiskos, her head turned to her right, wearing a red-striped chiton and a himation, holding a fan in her left hand, a ball of wool and a fillet to the left, white palmettes on the naiskos plinth, balls of wool above the naiskos, the shoulders with a band of dotted ovolo above ovoid necklace pendants, each above a cluster of dots; the reverse with a woman's head in profile to the left, wearing a beaded necklace, earrings, a radiate stephane and an embroidered sakkos, the shoulders with a band of vertical lines framed above and below by wave; a band of meander with saltire squares below the scenes, palmettes below the handles and on the neck
