A ROMAN MARBLE FIGURE OF MERCURY
Circa 2nd Century A.D.
The god depicted nude but for a chlamys pinned on his right shoulder and worn diagonally across his chest, with winged sandals and wings in his center-parted hair, holding a caduceus in his left hand and a money bag in his right, a ram below looking up towards the god, serving as the support, on an integral plinth of irregular oval form, traces of red pigment on the chlamys pin and the base knob of the caduceus
