A PALMYRENE LIMESTONE BUST OF YEDÎ'BÊL
Circa Mid 2nd Century A.D.
From a funerary relief, the deceased depicted wearing a mantle over a tunic, his right hand folded at his waist and holding a set of keys, one of which is inscribed in Greek, AIOΨ, a large footed chalice filled with fruit held in his left hand, the man depicted with a beard of swirling strands and a full head of curving locks brushed forward, his large detailed eyes with incised irises and dotted pupils, a three-line inscription to the right of his head identifying the deceased reading, "Yedî'bêl son of Yadbai, alas"
