A PALMYRENE LIMESTONE FUNERARY RELIEF
Circa Early 3rd Century A.D.
Depicting a funerary banquet scene within a border of acanthus and bead, the deceased reclining to the right, propped up on his left elbow, resting upon a pillow, a drinking cup in his left hand, wearing a himation over an embroidered tunic, his wife depicted diminutively, seated at the end of the couch, a veil covering her head in mourning, their son standing behind, a worn inscription in the field
