A GREEK GOLD AND GARNET FINGER RING
Hellenistic Period, Circa 3rd Century B.C.
The strap hoop, flat on the interior, grooved on the exterior, with a beaded wire along the groove, the pointed oval bezel with a cabochon garnet in a dog-tooth setting, enclosed by a rope pattern and beaded wires which spiral on to the shoulders where it is topped with a granule, and framed by disks and a leaf, the garnet engraved with a winged thunderbolt
