A ROMAN GOLD AND GARNET BEAD NECKLACE
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
With a large central circular box-shaped pendant, a bezel set garnet at its center framed with granulation, a band of braided wire, and a ring of granulation, a bifurcated strap above, its ends folded into a suspension loop, strung together with twelve drop pendants, each with a sphere pointed at its base and joined to a hollow tube with a plain wire fringe at each end, the tube joined to a suspension loop of tightly coiled wire; strung together with ten gold melon-shaped beads and possibly modern spherical garnet beads
