A BYZANTINE SILVER RELIQUARY CROSS
Circa 9th-12th Century A.D.
Formed of two halves, hinged at the base and pinned to a suspension loop above, one side engraved with five highly stylized busts of Saints, none with attributes, but the accompanying inscriptions identify the figure in the upper arm as the Mother of God, and the figure in the lower as St. Peter, while the abbreviated inscription on the horizontal reads "Jesus Christ Victorious," the other side engraved with a cross, the center recessed for a now-missing inlay
