AN ENGLISH DISH-HILT RAPIER
Circa 1640-50
With slender tapering blade of stiff diamond section, iron hilt comprising circular dish-guard pierced and chiselled with scrolls and running foliage, later straight quillons (one detached) each with bud finial, the outer side with ring-guard joined to the knuckle-guard, both interrupted by a single knop, incised ovoidal pommel, chiselled quillon-block, and spirally fluted wooden grip (in corroded condition, grip damaged)
