A 38-BORE GERMAN PERCUSSION TARGET RIFLE

With swamped octagonal sighted barrel (scattered rust staining) cut with seven grooves, signed in gold at the breech and with two silver breech lines, scroll engraved patent breech, long tang fitted with peep-sight, scroll engraved detented lock with stepped tail, walnut full stock, chequered grip and fore-end, raised cheek-piece, iron mounts, butt-cap with added finials, foliate engraved trigger-guard decorated with a stag, trigger-plate engraved with a hind and drilled for a hand-rest (missing), set trigger, two sling swivels, horn fore-end cap, and later wooden ramrod
