A PAIR OF 40-BORE GERMAN FLINTLOCK PISTOLS

With reblued swamped octagonal sighted barrels inlaid with silver strapwork and each signed in silver, each breech with gold-lined maker's stamp (similar to Neue Støckel 654), shaped tangs numbered repectively '1' and '2' and each fitted with adjustable back-sight, rounded detented locks, moulded figured walnut full stocks each carved in relief, flattened chequered butts, later horn fore-end caps, shaped brass mounts and escutcheons, set triggers, and later horn-tipped ramrods, with a key for adjusting the back-sights (some wear, and some surface rust and pitting)
