The Amateur Photographer claimed to have had first sight of an all new British 2¼ inch square reflex camera describing it as 'a remarkable little instrument and one that can only be described in terms of the highest precision'. The camera was an attempt to introduce rollfilm into the press market with which VN were already very familiar. The camera was apparently based on the German Reflex Korelle body with a back redesigned to give 6 x 6cm (2¼ inch square) negatives on 6 x 9cm. plates while retaining the rollfilm facility. The lens was marked with scales for plates and film and the viewing hood incorporated a prism so that the lens settings could be read.
