Lot Essay

The Verto camera was introduced in 1927 in both rollfilm and plate/film-pack models. The BJPA called the camera 'unique in the arrangement and precision of the Adams Identoscope viewfinder which was fitted centrally above the lens on the front standard. The viewfinder had automatic parallax correction in both upright and landscape positions. In this latter position the lens, shutter and finder, as a complete unit, can be swung'. The camera had double extension and the rollfilm model would also accommodate plates. The model with the Ross Combinable lens sold for £46 10s. A new model with a square body was introduced in 1928.
