Lot Essay

'Although necessarily a rather costly instrument, we have now supplied many N & G Stereoscopic Cameras to the leading workers at home and abroad. The Shutter, Iris diaphragms, &c., naturally form the essential features of this pattern, and these have proved to be perfect in every respect. No work, probably, requires such absolute perfection as Stereoscopic Photography and the Stereoscopic N & G always receives our utmost care and attention to details'. The camera made use of the double quarter-plate (6½ x 4¼ inch) which also allowed the camera to be used for either twelve stereoscopic pairs or twenty-four single images. The front was also interchangeable and septa in the camera and changing box were easily removable.

The camera sold for £28 10 0 with a pair of Zeiss lenses. This price has risen to £40 0 0 by 1910 and, unsurprisingly, the camera disappeared from the firm's advertising.
