Lot Essay

A brief notice in the BJPA 1914 reported that Ross & Co. had produced a special model of their Telecentric lens suitable for use on the Sibyl camera. Russell claimed that this particular camera was a one-off and no other examples were known. It would seem likely that other British lens maker's, principally Dallmeyer who had a working relationship with N & G, would also seek to produce lenses for the Sibyl which was popular and selling to photographers who would be unlikely to be too concerned about the additional cost of the telephoto lens. The Dallmeyer lens on this camera dates to 1914-1925.
