The Rubyette series was a smaller version of the Ruby reflex camera range and the No.1 reflex camera was reviewed in 1935. The camera was one of three models of Rubyette introduced around the same time. The No. 1 had a fixed back, the No. 2 a revolving back (both in 3½ x 2½ inches) and the No. 3 which had a reversing back but in 3¼ x 3¼ inch which was also suitable for 3½ x 2½ inch negatives.
Thornotn-Pickard described the camera as: 'New construction and design makes these cameras the smallest Focal Plane Reflexes ever produced relative to the size of picture taken. All Rubyette models produce a full-size picture and allow for interchange of Telephoto and other lenses'. The No. 1 with Dallmeyer 4 1/8 lens sold for £13 2 6 with additional lenses up to f/2.9 being available up to £21 15 0.
