Lot Essay

The Focal-Plane Folding Ruby camera was introduced in 1909 using a Thornton-Pickard focal-plane shutter with three separate slits in the same blind. This model featured a focal-plane shutter which was the subject of a patent granted to the company on 13 March 1912. The camera was not apparently advertised after 1911, suggesting it was very short lived.
