Lot Essay

Tanks such as these were generally used for processing wet-collodion plates. These examples with their retaining screw tops were amongst the better quality models available from one of the better quality British makers. The air-tight seal allowed the tanks to be carried when full. Very similar tanks were still be advertised in the 1890s described as 'glass fixing baths...fitted with white German glass'.
