"Roger and I met about 13 years ago when the editor of the newly-launched American Elle Décor asked me to write a feature about him. It was one of my earliest journalistic endeavors, and it was Roger's first press interview. Roger welcomed me into his curious, treasure-laden wonderland, stood on tippy toes (the better to see me eye to eye) and said -- with his marble busts of the Bonaparte clan looking on blankly -- 'Why, Amy, you have an Empire face and hairdo!'

Each with a probably later rounded rectangular mottled grey marble top over a frieze drawer, one fitted and baize-lined, over a pair of doors inlaid overall with foliate scroll decoration, on later scroll-carved feet, one stamped MADE IN FRANCE
