Marianne Geltner has very fond memories of working for Marilyn Monroe in 1956. She said that Marilyn gave her several things from her wardrobe, including her stockings, which she told Geltner she always bought from Saks on Fifth Avenue. She recalled that Monroe would frequently ask her to sit with her if she was dining alone after filming. On one occasion she told Geltner, the cook, that she only needed a light dinner confessing that she had been 'naughty' on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl that day, deliberately making mistakes during the shooting of a scene which required her to eat caviar, so that she had the excuse to repeat the caviar sampling again and again. Marilyn apparently asked Mrs Geltner and her husband Frank, who worked as butler at Parkside House, to return with her and her husband Arthur Miller to work for them in the States. Commitments at home however prevented the Geltners from doing so.
