Lot Essay

It is interesting to note that the cheque in this lot in payment for work done on a door lock, was issued just under three weeks before Marilyn Monroe's death on August 5th, 1962. Earlier in July, at a particularly troubled time in her life, Marilyn had been fired from the set of 20th Century Fox's production Something's Got to Give due to her frequent absences and constant tardiness.
