(LOTS 177-185)
Levin Friedrich von der Schulenburg (1670-1729) made his fortune in Piedmont as a Feldzeugmeister (General) and artillery commander-in-chief of the Duke of Savoy, King of Sardinia, and lived in Turin.
In October 1722 he bought Schloss Burgscheidungen in Thuringia. L. F. von der Schulenburg had the former fortress extensivly rebuilt and converted into a Baroque castle as Schloss Burgscheidungen was intended to be his retirement residence and house his possessions and art collection. Unfortunately he did not live to see the completion of the castle. Schloss Burgscheidungen remained in the family until 1945.
