Original comb-marbled maroon and black cloth by C. & J. Kitcat Ltd., the spine lettered in gilt (extremities very lightly rubbed, spine slightly faded). Provenance: Henry Sotheran Limited (bookseller's label on upper pastedown) -- Gillian Sutro (1917-1999, presentation inscription on front free endpaper 'For Gillian Sutro , with the author's admiration , Evelyn Waugh').
