Provenance: This pair of goggles were presented to the vendor, an official of the welcoming committee by Mrs Elly Beinhorn Rosemeyer, (the pre-war aviatrix) on the occasion of her visit to Mantua in 1974, where she was feted by the Automobile Club della Mantova and re-introduced to Carolina Nuvolari widow of the late Tazio Nuvolari the pre-war Italian Champion. During the war the family home was bombed in the Berlin raids, and most of Rosemeyer's trophies and personal racing mementos were lost. These goggles and a handful of cups were all that could be saved from the house. A signed letter of authenticity is accompanied by a period newspaper article describing Mrs. Elly Beinhorn Rosemeyer's visit dated Saturday 6th April 1974.
