A Chinese bronze Hu and cover
Ming Dynasty and later
cast in low relief with a central band of archaistic taotie masks below a smaller band of mythical beasts, with a loose phoenix head and revolving handle -- 4½in. (11.5cm.) high; a square silvered bronze mirror with applied central boss in the form of a mythical beast head flanked by dragon heads and a raised scrolling border within a band of deer -- 3.5in. (9cm.) wide (old wear, surface degradation).
