A Queen Anne style ivory, ebonised and gilt-metal mounted siphon tube barometer
The columnar case with rectangular moulded ebonised plinth supporting a tapering ivory column of three sections joined by gilt-metal collets, the gilt-brass 'hood' spuriously signed Invented and made by Daniel Quare London in a foliate cartouche and scratch-numbered 7 on its reverse, the top of the ivory column also scratch numbered 7, the silvered brass register scales engraved with the varous weather indications and calibrated 28-31, the two blued steel index pointers (one replaced) moving via threaded long screws to the reverse operated by two gilt urn finials atop flanking the central gilt mercury tube cover -- 39in. (99cm.) high
