An English small mahogany and satinwood replica of James Ferguson's tidal longcase clock, circa 1971
The breakarch hood with brass ball finial, glazed side panels, with thumb-nail mouldings flanking the breakarch trunk door, a raised panel to the plinth above a stepped skirting, with silvered and engraved 9in. wide dial inscribed to the upper left J. Ferguson inv./London/Ca1720 and signed to the upper right G.H.Bell fecit/Winchester/Ca1971, with outer twice XII chapter ring, the time indicated by a sun hand rotating once a day, with central disc rotating anti-clockwise once every 29½ days, engraved The Moon's Age, the time of her Southing and time of High Water at London Bridge, with aperture indicating the time of High Water at London Bridge and the age of the moon, the next circlet inscribed High Water and Low Water twice, with an engraved ellipse representing the state of the tides at the hour in question, with pierced circular aperture representing visually the age of the moon, the arch with a cut out with blue painted rising shutter showing the sea rising and falling in the estuary, the four pillar movement with A-frame plates and chain-wound single train wire lines movement -- 80in.
