An English mahogany and brass-mounted quarter-chiming table clock
The case with pineapple finials to a pagoda top, brass handles to the sides above pierced sound frets, the brass-lined base on bracket feet, the 8in. wide brass dial with shell and foliate spandrels to a silvered and engraved Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with plaque spuriously signed 1117/Barraud/Cornhill LONDON, the arch above with subsidiary rings for date and day of week, with strike/silent lever by 3, the triple wire fusee movement with later anchor escapement, quarter striking on eight nested bells and with hour strike on further bell, trip repeat, the back plate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and with later pendulum holdfast; composite, case 19th century, dial 20th century, movement late 18th century and with adaptations -- 23½in. (60cm.) high
