A Victorian brass quarter-striking and repeating carriage clock, circa 1840
The one-piece style case with silvered Roman dial and signed JAMES McCABE/ROYAL EXCHANGE/LONDON/1936, with blued steel moon hands, sliding glazed rear door, the triple chain fusee movement with cruciform gilt platform and engraved cock to underslung lever balance, strikework positioned on the back plate, with silent/strike adjustment and signed James McCabe/Royal Exchange/LONDON./1936, strike/repeat on two nested bells in the base, with two hammers to one side for quarters and a further hammer to the other side for hours -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high; with unnumbered McCabe style key and red leather travel case with brass handle
