A Charles I small brass striking lantern clock with alarm, mid 17th century
With narrow Roman chapter ring applied to a dial plate engraved with flowerheads, the centre with engraved alarm-setting disc, black painted hand, lacking side doors and rear plate with hoop and spurs, two original frets and one replacement, the finial above the bell and the tip to one lower finial lacking, movement now converted to anchor escapement (from balance?), countwheel strike, alarm train now lacking -- 11in. (28cm.) high; with a 19th century oak floor-standing plinth and hood in the Gothic style -- 82½in. (210cm.) high (2)
