A George III mahogany and brass-mounted striking bracket clock, circa 1780
The case with brass handle to inverted bell top, two glazed panels to each side, the brass-lined front door with fishscale quarter frets and flanked by applied brass mouldings to the case angles, raised on brass bracket feet, the silvered and engraved dial decorated with flowers, Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the centre signed Wm. Drury/BANBURY and with date ring, pierced blued steel hands, the arch with strike/silent ring, the five pillar movement with verge escapement, strike and trip repeat on bell, with repeat signature an engraved trail of bellflowers to the back plate -- 20¼in. (51.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
