A Meissen allegorical group
Circa 1880, blue crossed swords mark, incised G.31., Pressnummer 121
After a model by C. G. Jeuchtzer, emblematic of Peace, modelled as a fallen female figure, probably emblematic of Europe, wearing a crown, her hair garlanded with pearls, with an ermine-lined claret cape and pale-green robes on a marble step, above her stands the stooping figure of Peace, wearing pale-blue and puce flowered robes, holding a frond and two cornucopiae issuing fruit and jewels, before a flaming marble altar with ram's heads and oval plaques painted with a cornucopia and a putto suspended form bowls, festooned with berried laurels, on a rockwork gilt-edged base, in two sections (minor chipping to edge of base, foliage and jewels)
