4 volumes, 4o (266 x 211 mm). 2-page list of subscribers, 6-page index and 1-page errata at end of vol. IV. 400 color-printed stipple- and line-engraved plates by Dubreuil and Veron after Jaume Saint-Hilaire (few marginal tears, some light browning, mostly at the edges, occasional spotting). Contemporary green boards, uncut (rebacked, repairs to corners). Provenance: Massachusetts Horticultural Society, Stickney Fund (bookplate dated 1871; stamps).

FIRST EDITION. Due to the method of publication, the contents and collation are, as Stafleu and Cowan note, "only incompletely known to us." The work continued to ten volumes, finished in 1822.
