COCKTAIL CART FROM "THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH"
20th Century Fox, 1955
A 1950s-era wooden cocktail cart used as set dressing in the New York City apartment where goofy Richard Sherman, as portrayed by Tom Ewell, tries to unsuccessfully seduce his upstairs neighbor played by Marilyn Monroe. Basic in its design of a simple wood frame on wheels, this piece has two removeable drawers with the top one having faux red leather trim, decorative silver upholstery tacks and side handles. Seen in the interior apartment scenes, it is most prominent when MM first comes down and asks for a "big, tall martini." The cart is also seen in publicity stills from a deleted fantasy sequence where MM stands in front of it attired like Mae West.
