Dr Bernhard Schnackenburg has kindly confirmed the attribution on the basis of a photograph. As with a number of drawings in Westcombe's collection, the present lot appears to have been among the sheets inherited by Dusart on Adriaen van Ostade's death in 1685, and which he subsequently worked up with additional brown wash.
