The substantial case with dentil mouldings to a stepped cornice, with inset reeded and Corinthian capped columns flanking the glazed front door, glazed side panels, with brass wall securing screws to the rear, the panelled and inverted break front plinth centred by a central inlaid monogram VW beneath a crown, the backboard with burr walnut panel and enamel beat scale, the white enamel two-piece Roman dial with subsidiary seconds to the centre, signed MARENZELLER, blued steel hands, the movement on sliding seatboard, with four double-screwed pillars, Graham type dead beat escapment and maintaining power, the wheels with five crossings, the steel-rod pendulum with brass bob and fine calibration to the crutchpiece, suspended from the backboard
