The case with foliate cast handle to the gilt-metal double basket top cast with trellis and gadrooning with central baskets of flowers, urn and acorn-spire finials, the doors and sides mounted with further repoussée mounts, foliate cast squab feet, the breakarch gilt-brass dial signed Jos Green North Shields on a circular silvered plaque in the arch flanked by foliate cast spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic chapters and lozenge half hour markers, pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, Indian mask-and-foliate spandrels, the movement with five ringed pillars, re-positioned wheel trains, the escapement with crown wheel in conjunction with later anchor, wire fusee and spring barrel, the later strike train with wire fusee and spring barrel, the back plate signed Joseph Green North Shields within a wheatear engraved oval within futher profuse foliate engraving, the movement largely re-trained, originally a timepiece movement with single fusee, pull quarter repeat and alarm, the original wheel train indicated by the vacant pivot holes
