A Charles II walnut, olivewood and marquetry small longcase clock

The plinth panel inlaid with a central oval panel and four spandrels with elaborate floral marquetry with green stained bone leaves on an ebony ground, later bun feet, the trunk door with circular brass-framed lenticle and inlaid with similar marquetry with four spandrels, an oval and large D-ended panel inlaid with an urn with flowers, green stained bone leaves and a central song bird, convex throat moulding to the rising hood (reconverted) with ebonised twist columns, later pierced walnut fret beneath the cornice moulding, the 9 7/8in. square brass dial signed Joseph Knibb Londini Fecit beneath the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic chapters and elaborately pierced blued steel hands, finely matted centre with calendar aperture beneath XII, large well cast and chased winged cherub spandrels, latches to the four dial feet and to the four ringed pillars securing the delicate brass rectangular plates of the movement, low position countwheel strike on a later pork pie bell above the plates, anchor escapement with small diameter 'scape wheel and brass-rod pendulum with butterfly rating nut with loop-suspension from a blued steel spring secured to a backcock atop the back plate with further butterfly nut regulation, movement securing bracket to the backboard
